The advantages
of Ambisystem®
Process
The experimentation results evidenced the system’s ability to
accelerate waste stabilisation times in comparison with
traditional bio-stabilisation methods. Stabilisation times
vary, depending on the matrix, between three and four weeks.
This means, again in comparison with traditional systems, that
larger quantities can be treated in the course of a working
year.
With the waste enclosed in the ambiTunnel, the bulk of the
biomasses is reduced by up to 50% in comparison with
traditional bio-stabilisation processes. This involves a
reduction in area of about 50%.
During experimentation it was observed that the initial weight
of the biomasses dropped by 20-25% (the weight difference is
proportional to the organic matter present in the waste under
treatment) following stabilisation of the organic and the loss
of humidity.
The process phases are continuously monitored by ambiControl
which can modulate the work cycles, the air delivery by means
of an inverter, the oxygen and the temperature in the biomass
so that it is kept above 55°C for a minimum of five
consecutive days, in such a way as to obtain a perfect
hygienisation of the treated material. AmbiControl
automatically controls the valve for the delivery of external
air when the oxygen probe drops below 13%; it also actuates
the electro-valve for delivery of water should the humidity
level drop below the minimum preset threshold. The logistics
and reduced bulk of the ambiSystem mean that treatment can be
carried out directly in the open air on a waterproofed asphalt
or cement bed with the collection of any percolates.
The bioTunnel has a diameter of 3 metres and is up to 50
metres long. The base of each heap occupies a space of about
4-4.2 metres.
Each linear metre can contain from 3.5 to 4.2 tonnes of
material for composting.
The weight per linear metre depends on the type of product to
be composted.
Stabilisation of the biomass with ambiSystem impedes the
proliferation of insects, rats etc., a problem widely
experienced in this type of industrial activity.
Emissions
The polyethylene container bag has demonstrated excellent
containment of percolate forming inside.
To contain emissions we have created a system of partial
recirculation of outgoing vapours. This system has allowed us
to reduce emission into the atmosphere by up to 95% in all
phases of the process. The percolates caused by these vapours
are partly reduced by a demister, set between the aspiration
of outgoing air and the fan, and reintroduced where required
into the mass under stabilisation.
The concentration values of odour emitted into the atmosphere
are below the limits prescribed for composting plant.
These limits are amply respected thanks to an exclusive
insufflation system which takes place partially on
recirculation; a small part of the vapours leaking from the
container is filtered by the exclusive “ambiCover” tarp in
active carbon.
Thanks to the ambiSystem, emissions are below the reference
limits of the regulations in force. This means considerable
economical and management advantages.
