Ambisystem is a technology devised,
developed and patented by Ambientalia for the aerobic
stabilisation of organic material and for accelerated
maturation of compost.
The organic part of the waste (previously selected)
is suitably mixed with structuring material (woodchip), if the
material to be stabilised consists of damp waste from
differentiated collection or if it is a discard from
mechanical separation with chopping and riddling ≥ than 50 mm.
The product thus prepared is introduced, with a rubberised
shovel, into a tubular polyethylene container (“ambioTunnel”)
with the special “ambiPress” bagging machine. Thanks to the
closed and modular structure of the ambioTunnel it is possible
to stabilise directly in the open air, on a waterproofed bed
or directly onto a suitably prepared dump body.

The special system with partial air
recirculation, both ingoing and outgoing with regard to the
biomass, avoids the leakage of odorigenous particles, of gases
and vapours, which are automatically recovered and introduced
into the stabilising mass without creating environmental
problems.
The polyethylene ambioTunnel has the function of containing
the biomass and percolate in a closed sheath. The gases formed
during the bio-stabilisation process are in part reintroduced
and in part filtered by the exclusive system of ambiCover
tarps which retain the minimum part of gas and malodorous
substances that are not sucked in by the recovery pipes inside
the upper part of the tubular container.
The process is carried out directly outdoors, without causing
any problems of environmental impact, dispersion of waste due
to wind or uncontrolled leakage of percolate.
Waste stabilisation takes place by means of forced aeration. A
fan blows air the whole length of the ambioTunnel and recovers
it through perforated pipes inserted automatically during the
filling phase.

“AmbioTunnels” have a diameter of 3 metres
and their variable lengths go to a maximum of 50 metres. They
can hold from 3,500 to 4,000 kilos (approx.) per linear metre
of material to be stabilised. (The maximum weight per linear
metre depends on the type of material and the dampness it
contains).
The frontal progress and the limited bulk of the “ambiPress”
machine make for easy manoeuvring in any area chosen for
positioning the “ambioTunnels”.
On completion of the operation of ensilaging the biomass,
various technical data are fed into the computer: Type of
process (green, damp, riddled damp etc., weight of material
introduced into the ambioTunnel), length of ambioTunnel,
humidity of material.
“Ambicontrol”, the management and control software, processes
the input data and the work process begins. The start of the
aerobic process causes a controlled increase of the
temperature inside the ambioTunnel.

Control
The entire process is controlled by our exclusive ambiControl
software.
Temperature
The temperature is taken continuously by three PT100 probes
inside every ambioTunnel. It is transmitted to the management
and control system which can modulate, by means of an
inverter, the air delivered by the fan, this with view to
maintaining the best operational conditions for the
bio-stabilisation process.
Oxygen
Control is carried out by a digital probe inside the
fermenting biomass. Analysis by this exclusive system allows
modulation of fan delivery to maintain the right quantity of
oxygen in the ambioTunnel. This is done by means of a
modulating valve controlled by the software. It also reduces
electricity consumption to a minimum during the process. The
application of ambiSystem is suitable for both composting
plant (damp etc.) and biological stabilisation of S.U.W. FOS.
Consumption
Electricity consumption is on average one tenth (1/10) in
comparison with an equally powerful plant of the traditional
bio cell type.
