ADSORBECO® IS THE FIRST REUSABLE
DAILY COVERING IN ACTIVE
CARBON.

AdsorbEco in Urban Dumps.
Foul-smelling and mephitic exhalations from dumped organic
substances are due to gases produced during decomposition of
these substances. The organic parts, decomposing, form complex
molecules of gases that are mainly responsible for mephitic
exhalations.
The emissions of smells from controlled dumps are essentially
of two types:
-
emissions from the fresh product just
delivered, consisting essentially of sub-products of the first
decomposition of the organic substance (which has largely taken
place already in the bins); to contain these the waste must be
covered daily with earth;
-
emissions linked to biogas and its minor
components; these are particularly penetrating odours which
increase with time and the gradual actuation of the anaerobic
process, and which cannot be contained by covering, since biogas
can reach high pressures.
The evolution of the Solid Urban Waste dump, in
implementation of the new regulations, increasingly tends to reduce
the consignment of organic substances. Nevertheless there will still
be deliveries of considerable quantities of materials that can
generate odours, including over a period of time. The result is that
the use of moveable covering systems that absorb smells continues to
be an interesting solution to the problem of daily covering even in
the short term, while considerable quantities of organic substances
will still be dumped.
Adsorbeco carbon tarpaulins are still a valid and important
alternative to the traditional system of covering with layers of
aggregates or earth inasmuch as:
-
they solve the problem of malodorous
exhalations thanks to the great concentration of carbon
microgranules per square metre;
-
they function as reusable daily coverings
since the same tarps are used several times (evening cover at the
end of work, removal the next day for the delivery of new waste);
-
they allow recovery of volume in the dump,
with considerable economic/financial advantages, if used instead
of layers of aggregates and/or earth;
-
they limit the access of animals and insects to
the dump since their filtering efficacy eliminates bad smells;
-
being permeable they solve the problem of the
formation of dangerous pockets of biogas;
-
they facilitate a faster and cleaner work
system;
-
they do not alter the environmental aesthetic
impact of the place.
